10/30/08 Reminder/Clarification: Change of location for processing Order to Remit Prisoner Funds and Satisfaction of Financial Obligation forms.  
  MCR 8.119 allows the court to charge the actual cost for the creation of a new record. This memo explains what it means to create a new record and what the actual costs may include.  
  Michigan State Police, Criminal Records Division, establishes a new procedure for submission of some types of disposition modifications. Right click and choose "Save Target As" to download the Excel spreadsheet to your computer. A PDF version is available for court users who cannot open the Excel form.  
  Wayne Law's Journal of Law in Society to Present its 9th Annual Symposium titled "McJustice: Exposing the Inadequacies of Public Defense in Michigan and the Search for Solutions."

10/23/08 New foster care licensing requirements.  
  Secretary of State announcement regarding penalties for persons injured or killed in a work zone, and a new violation for disobeying a traffic regulator in a work zone.  
  The 2009 Adult Drug Court Planning Initiative (DCPI) training application is open.  
  The United States Supreme Court Fellows Commission is accepting applications for the 2009-2010 United States Supreme Court Fellows Program. The program allows those selected to work for one year as paid, full-time employees of the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Judicial Center, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, and the United States Sentencing Commission. Application materials must be submitted by November 11, 2008. Information and application materials are located on the U.S. Supreme Court website at: http://www.fellows.supremecourtus.gov. 11/1/08
