Your Guide to Accessing Michigan Courts
Court support personnel that participate in this training learn the difference between venue and jurisdiction and the structure of the Michigan court system. They learn the types of cases heard in Criminal, Civil, Probate, Circuit and Family Division of the Circuit Court. They also learn how to direct the public and answer questions while remaining neutral.
The Michigan Court Rules: A Guide for Court Support Personnel
The court rules training program is designed to help court support personnel learn the fundamentals of the Michigan Court Rules so that they can provide good customer service to court patrons. The program explains how the court rules guide court actions, promote order, fairness and access to justice. They learn how to locate information using the Michigan Court Rules and which areas they should become familiar with in their work.
The Court Staff Guide to PPOs
The purpose of this training is to help court support personnel fulfill the vital role they play in providing access to the court in PPO actions. In this training program, court staff learn how to process a PPO action, provide information and assistance without giving legal advice and how to manage emotionally charged situations that may be associated with PPO actions. This program will be available July 1999.
Repeat Offender Readiness
In this training program, the courts, law enforcement, prosecutors, and Secretary of State staff will be provided with the key concepts and processes within the recently enacted "repeat offender" legislation.
Court Employees: A Commitment to Excellence
This program provides Michigan court support personnel with the knowledge, tools, and skills to recognize and act on ethically challenging situations that occur in the work environment. Please visit our web-based training program on this topic.
