Joint Custody and Parenting Time

Joint custody means that the parents share actual physical custody of their children and, therefore, neither is a "non-custodial parent" whose parenting time is limited by a court order. Joint custody may be an option when you and the other parent can work together on important decisions affecting the welfare of your children.

In the Michigan Parenting Time Guideline, you will find definitions and sample schedules for joint custody.
