6.16Operating a Motor Vehicle While Unlicensed
“Any person, not exempt from license under [the MVC], who operates a motor vehicle on the highways of [Michigan] and who is unable to show that he or she has been issued a license to operate a motor vehicle by any state or foreign country valid within the last 3 years before operating the vehicle, is guilty of a misdemeanor[.]” MCL 257.904a.
MCL 257.904a provides for:
• First Offense:
•imprisonment for not more than 90 days; or
•fine of $50 to $100; or
•both.
• Second Offense:
•imprisonment for not more than 90 days; or
•fine of $100; or
•both.
Only applicable sanctions are listed below; accordingly, if a particular sanction is omitted from this section, it is not applicable to this offense.
